Technology in the spotlight at CV Show

Telematics CV Show
Next month’s Commercial Vehicle Show (25-27 April; NEC, Birmingham) will feature new trucks, vans and pick-ups – but there will also be a strong focus on new technology.

That’s the message from CV Show director Rob Skelton, who says: “The commercial vehicle sector is a technology leader.

“It’s commercial vehicles that are, in several respects, pioneering the move towards advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and an increasingly autonomous future, while environmental pressures mean that the current generation of commercial vehicles is cleaner than ever, and getting even greener.”

The event will showcase the UK’s range of technological and engineering expertise, he adds. “With advanced telematics, emissions technology and safety systems chief among them, the show offers a great opportunity to see these technological advances first hand, from companies both small and large.”

The new technology on show will include a next-generation tyre monitoring system, said to be a predictive solution to tyre management and maintenance.

RL Automotive’s Tyrewatch PTM (predictive tyre management) offers the same benefits as a TPMS but uses artificial intelligence to also predict problems before they occur and communicate them in real time, making workshop planning more efficient.

Elsewhere, Parksafe Automotive will be unveiling new HD and 3G video recording systems. With the HD option, customers have the choice of either a four- or eight-channel camera system, with the cameras spread over their vehicle in their desired position to cover all blind spots.

Parksafe will also be offering its system as a 3G-supported live recording version, allowing operators to log in remotely to access the footage and other vehicle information such as speed and location in real time.
