Transport for London has placed an order with Mellor for 90 Tucana II buses, which will be deployed at Dial-a-Ride hub locations around the capital.
The Tucana II is built on the Volkswagen T6 chassis and features a fully flat low-floor passenger saloon with capacity for up to four wheelchairs. The vehicles also have a rear door, boarding ramp and seating for eight passengers.
“These new vehicles are a big boost to our efforts to clean up the capital’s toxic air,” says James Mead, general manager of Dial-a-Ride at TfL.
“The Tucana II meets our tough new ultra low emission zone environmental standards. It will help us to get older and vulnerable Londoners from A to B, while protecting the health of future generations.”
Deliveries have just begun and will continue until March 2019.
