Available free of charge to FORS members, the toolkit includes guidance for fleet managers and training for drivers.
The classroom training is a seven-hour course for all commercial HGV drivers and is part of the Driver CPC accreditation. It is supported by an e-learning module, which can be used as an extra training resource for fleet managers, to understand what the drivers are being taught, as well as for van drivers and other CV operators.
“This training will help clarify the respective roles and responsibilities, and cover a number of elements crucial to best practice for drivers including the elements of a good load security system, how to mitigate the effects of loads on driving and operational performance and the roles and responsibilities of the regulatory and enforcement bodies,” says Sonia Hayward, FORS operations manager.
