Upgraded MiX solution delivers for the Post Office

Telematics
The Post Office is rolling out a nationwide upgrade of its MiX telematics system in 265 cash-in-transit vans and mobile Post Offices.

When the contract on its MiX Datatrak solution ended, the Post Office reviewed several systems before deciding to stay with MiX Telematics and move to its Fleet Manager system.

The MiX Telematics in-cab driver coaching aid is also being installed, following a successful trial on 15 vehicles at the Post Office’s Belfast unit.

During the trial, the vehicles were firstly operated for four weeks with the in-cab driver coaching aid disabled, followed by four weeks with it enabled. All events were recorded and reported to the fleet manager.

“The results were dramatic,” says Alex Goddard, fleet contracts support manager for the Post Office.

“Drivers were able to monitor their own performance and this resulted in a reduction in events recorded. There is no doubt in my mind that the system positively promotes driver and road safety – and as an operator whose fleet covers around four million miles a year, that is an extremely important factor for us.”
