Volvo FMX tippers are top of the class for A1 Services

Rigids Tippers
A1 Services (Manchester) has taken delivery of three Volvo FMX 8x4 rigids with Marshall tipper bodies and Epsilon Palfinger M125L construction cranes, equipped with Kinshofer clamshell buckets.

Supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercials, the operator’s new additions are the start of its 35-strong fleet renewal and another five Volvo tippers are already on order.

The trucks are supporting A1’s expansion into the construction, utility and local authority markets.

“The Volvo FMX tippers with day cabs and grabs ideally suit this type of work,” says John Walsh, director at A1 Services (Manchester).

“They’re rugged and extremely manoeuvrable, which means we can collect from pretty much anywhere. Essentially, with these trucks we have the capability and capacity to efficiently load and remove excavated material from highway utility works for recycling/disposal off-site.”

All three vehicles are fitted with Volvo D13K 13-litre engines producing 420bhp and the 12-speed I-Shift transmission, which Walsh says is “second to none”.
