Lindum Group boosts recycling capability with Volvo FE and FMX

Lindum Group has taken delivery of two Volvo FE 4x2 rigids and one FMX 8x4 for use in its waste recycling operation.

Supplied by Crossroads Truck and Bus of Lincoln, the new additions bring the operator’s fleet to 14.

The FE trucks have short day cabs and skiploader bodywork by Harsh of York. Each is fitted with Volvo’s 7.7-litre D8K six cylinder engine, producing 250bhp and up to 950Nm of torque, and also feature the 12-speed I-Shift automated mechanical gearboxes.

The Volvo FMX is fitted with a Harsh HH26 hooklift for roll-on roll-off use. The vehicle has a six-cyclinder, 12.8-litre, Volvo D13K Euro 6 engine delivering 420bhp and up to 2100Nm of torque, through a 12-speed I-Shift automated mechanical gearbox.

Tom Robertson, managing director of Lindum, says the entire fleet is now Volvo, following the first acquisition in 2010 of an FH – a key reason for which, he says, is excellent support from the dealer.

“Furthermore the reliability, fuel efficiency and quality of the trucks means the whole package is right,” he adds.

“The product is what I expect… and I expect a lot.”
