Volvo Trucks has picked up an innovation award for its I-Shift with Crawler Gears automated transmission.
Launched last year and said to be unique for series-produced heavy vehicles, I-Shift with Crawler Gears promises “exceptional startability” for trucks carrying heavy loads in demanding situations.
It allows trucks operating at high gross weights to be driven at speeds as low as 0.5 to 2kph, helping drivers to perform low-speed precision manoeuvring and reversing.
The award was presented at ‘The Heavies 2017’, an event for the heavy haulage industry run by Heavy Torque magazine and Nimble Media.
