Total Recycling Services has extended its commitment to a sole-Mercedes-Benz fleet, taking delivery of its first from the Arocs truck range, an 8x4 3240.
Supplied by dealer Bell Truck and Van, the Darlington-based operator's latest acquisition joins its 15-strong fleet of Actros, Axor and Econic vehicles.
General manager Paul Mitchell trialled an Arocs at a launch event in Germany and was impressed by the vehicle's capability.
"I had the opportunity to drive one around a demanding course in a quarry. Compared to this, getting on and off landfill sites will be no problem," says Mitchell.
The Arocs' fuel performance was another key factor in the decision and, says Mitchell. "Early returns would seem to bear this out," he says.
Total's Arocs has been fitted with Hiab Multilift hook-loading gear to enable it to deliver 40 cubic yard roll-on, roll-off skips to commercial customers in the north of England and Scotland.
