Waste management company Willshee's has taken delivery of its first Euro 6 trucks, DAF's LF and CF models.
The 8x4 CF440 FAD has a Reynolds Boughton hook-loader, while the 18-tonne LF has been fitted with a Hyva skiploader.
The Burton-on-Trent operator selected the Euro 6 vehicles to boost its environmental credentials and, it says, because of previous good experience with DAF trucks and local dealer Imperial Commercials.
Dean Willshee, a director of the family-owned firm, says he had "no hesitation" in choosing Euro 6.
"Being as efficient and as environmentally friendly as possible is critical," he adds.
Willshee's CF440 truck was specified with the new six-cylinder Paccar MX-11 turbocharged diesel engine, which gives 440bhp from 1,450 to 1,700 rpm, with 2,100 Nm of torque available between 1,000 to 1,450 rpm.
The engine is also 180kg lighter than the MX-13 engine, giving a larger payload.
