A vehicle can be converted with In-tech’s bridge technology, called e-troFit, in four weeks, with ZF providing the necessary components. This timeframe, says ZF, is a significant advantage given that delivery lead times for new all-electric buses can be up to 18 months.
The conversion also brings cost benefits, costing up to 50% less per bus compared to a new purchase.
Helmut Ernst, head of ZF Aftermarket, says that e-troFit offers the ideal solution until the market for electric vehicles is more mature: “The markets won’t be ready to provide the necessary volume production of electrically driven vehicles until 2025. Until then, converting conventional commercial vehicles to electric drives is an excellent opportunity to substantially support cities in the electrification of public transport.”
Initially, this will be promoted to the German market, followed by the rest of Europe.
