A new Fiat Fiorino Cargo van has more than proved its miserly fuel claims, winning the best mpg title in the ALD Automotive Shell FuelSave mpg Marathon.
The 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel 75 Euro 5 van returned 82.96mpg over the economy test's 370-mile course, using less than four and a half gallons to take the title. Interestingly, its overall mpg figure was 26.27% better than the official combined figure for the van.
"I was really impressed that the Fiorino was able to achieve over 80mpg on a tough route that included plenty of steep hills, heavy traffic and strong headwinds," comments driver John Kerswill. "It's a great little van to drive, too."
Paul Godden, brand manager for Fiat Professional says: "We know the Fiorino Cargo is an economical van to own and drive, so it's great news when our claims are proved so conclusively."
