A new anti-fuel theft system, designed to work with existing security devices, such as locking fuel caps and anti-siphon devices, has been introduced by Aide Automotive.
Dubbed Tank Guard, it consists of a sensing and anti-attack system, as well as powerful strobe lights and sirens.
The system automatically arms 20 seconds after switching off the ignition. It then flashes the strobe for seven seconds every minute to warn off thieves. If, however, they attempt to remove the locked fuel cap, jemmy out the sender unit or break into the tank, the alarm activates a 114dB siren or voice alarm, issuing a deafening warning, while flashing a high intensity strobe light.
Aide Automotive sales director Matthew Burke says Tank Guard is a relatively easy aftermarket installation and adds that a second sensor can be accommodated for dual-tank trucks.
With Tank Guard costing less than a third of a tank of fuel, Burke believes truck operators will find it attractive.
