A lightweight tri-axle step frame, with beavertail, has been launched by Andover Trailers, for transporting plant, pavers, rollers and access machines.
Sales director Ivan Collins makes the point that it offers an 8% saving over the cost of Andover's equivalent four-member chassis trailer.
"We've achieved the saving by offering this addition in one standard 13.6m length, with one swing clearance and a smaller range of options, which in turn simplifies the build process," he explains.
The new trailers has been designed around an all-new two member chassis, which uses cross members passing through the inner frame to deliver strength.
The standard specification includes a toolbox for stowing straps and chains, swing-out galvanized side extensions and oxinite hydraulic cylinders for protection.
It comes with Knorr-Bremse spring brakes on all three Granning axles, a lifting rear axle and manual steady legs. Operators can also opt for either single section 2.5m long hydraulic ramps or 3.2m power toe ramps.
Added cost options include a choice between Gigant and SAF axles, or a self-steering axle in place of the lifting rear axle. Fleets can also specify wide-load marker boards and a hydraulic sideways function for the ramps.
"We anticipate strong interest from general C&U operators," comments Collins.
