Masternaut to offer phone apps to transport operators

Masternaut has launched a custom iPhone and Android app for commercial vehicle operators using its mobile solutions and vehicle tracking technology.
The system allows them to launch their own app and make it available to their customers on the Apple app store or Android market. Examples include maps showing the live location of vehicles, assets and mobile workers or even pushpins showing 'today's jobs'. Local authority users, for example, can report problems – such as potholes, faulty street lamps or broken pavements – quickly and easily. Johann Levy, Masternaut's R&D manager, explains that tThe apps take a live feed from Masternaut's tracking and mobile solutions – meaning that the live location of vehicles, assets and mobile workers can be shared with users of the app. "The market for apps has exploded, and with our new apps, we're giving our customers the means to add serious value for their end-users," comments Levy. "[We are] giving them a way to differentiate their service, offer real-time information and encouraging them to get involved by interacting quickly, accurately and very easily." In other Masternaut news, employees have stripped off to raise money for a breast cancer charity. The idea came from company worker Sonya Greer, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2008. Now in remission, she received help and support from The Haven centre in Leeds, and wanted to say thanks by raising money and awareness of the organisation.? "I've been touched by the thoughtfulness of the people at Masternaut – they have shown such understanding and compassion towards my illness," comments Greer. "Everyone jumped at the chance to get involved with the photoshoot, to create our notebook, which we have called 'Supporting a Safer Journey'. Getting people to 'expose' themselves for charity was a huge ask, but they've done it. Copies can be purchased from:www.masternaut.co.uk/haven
