Tyre tracking system to put operators in control of wheels

A new module to track tyre usage has been launched by Accelerator, and will get its first public outing at the Commercial Vehicle Operator Show , from 13 to 15 April 2010.
The software can track usage not just on tyres, but also on wheel rims, as well as on individual axles. Accelerator, the vehicle maintenance software system, says it has devised its wheels and tyres module so that monitoring takes place on every detail, from purchase through to scrapping. According to Graham Helliwell, commercial development manager at Accelerator, operators can add tyre depth information, and can also create tyre categories, such as new, retreaded or regrooved. He also explains that the tyre store screen allows searching by tyre size, wheel diameter, rating, type, manufacturer, status, vehicle, axle and position. Double clicking produces history and location details for any wheel rim or tyre. "This new module enables tyres and wheel rims to be accounted for quickly and easily. It gives the user a simple means of recording any swapping of rims and tyres on a vehicle," comments Helliwell. "Accounting for your tyres and wheel rims can be a complicated business," he continues. "This module makes it simple." For a demonstration of the Accelerator module, visit the company's stand (5875) at the Commercial Vehicle Operator Show.
