Track trial seals the deal for haulier’s Range T choice

Tractor Units
Road haulage firm Clive Cowern Transport Services is extending its 44-strong fleet with three Renault Range T 460.25 tractor units, after managing director Clive Cowern drove a tractor unit at Renault's launch event, at Millbrook, late last year.
The Range Ts are being supplied by dealer Renault Trucks Midlands on a two-year contract hire deal through BRS. Having put the Range T through its paces at the Millbrook Proving Ground, Cowern said: "It drives really well and the gearbox is superb, which is what we were looking for. The cab is very well laid out, with a good floor, so I can't see any of our drivers complaining, which is important." The company will be measuring fuel economy and reliability against other models in its mixed fleet, particularly the Euro 5 Scanias. "If the Range Ts perform to expectation, we will be ordering more," says Cowern. The three Renaults will operate from the haulier's Bridgnorth site and will cover up to 140,000km per year.
