Thankfully that fear (which was probably irrational, but those were crazy days) didn’t become a reality – and now there is a sense that the ‘new normal’ has been long forgotten and we’re back to the ‘old’ normal.
In the context of events in the transport and logistics worlds, this situation has been played out with the re-emergence of the spectacle where you may be reading these very words – Euro Bus Expo. As keen supporters of all commercial vehicles, the IRTE and we at Transport Engineer recognise the key role that passenger service vehicles play in moving arguably that most valuable commodity – human beings – from A to B. With that in mind, please check out the preview of the 2024 edition of Euro Bus Expo, starting on p18, and see what technologies and solutions are coming down the line for the bus and coach sector.
In other exciting event news, Transport Engineer has been revealed as the exclusive media partner of the Microlise Transport Conference in 2025. This iconic event is the largest road transport conference in Europe – and it never fails to deliver in terms of speakers, exhibitors and opportunities to network with like-minded professionals. I’m sure it’s already on your radar but, just as a reminder, be sure to keep your diary free on 18 March 2025 and make a date at the Coventry Building Society Arena. Of course, we’ll be featuring plenty of news about the conference between now and then, but you can register and find out more at www.microliseconference.com.
One final request from me would be to check out the SOE’s ‘For the Sake of Safety’ podcast: www.tinyurl.com/3xp7amk5. The first episode features Nick Elliott MSOE MIRTE, chair of the IRTE Professional Sector Council, who talks about the importance of a safety-based workplace and how it can enhance efficiency, morale and success. Future episodes will offer invaluable advice and guidance, so make sure you subscribe!
