Reading Borough Council is a continually high achieving Transport Authority with a proven track record of service delivery and the following exciting opportunity has arisen.
We are looking to recruit an Assistant Network Manager to assist the Network & Parking Services Manager in leading the Traffic & Road Safety Team. We require an ambitious individual with the drive and desire to manage the demands of the road network through parking management, co-ordinating street works, improving road safety to developing intelligent transportation systems and services.
In assisting the Network & Parking Services Manager you will develop innovative transport solutions, implement transport policy and deliver traffic management schemes. Other responsibilities will include supporting elected members at both formal and informal public meetings. You will also work closely with the Transport Planning Team in the delivery of aspects of the current Local Transport Plan and other strategic schemes.
You will need to demonstrate experience in transport and highway issues and have a good understanding of the urban environment. Strong interpersonal skills are essential alongside management experience and the ability to react to changing circumstances in a positive way.
