Business Support Manager – Road Fleet

Network Rail's vision is to provide a safe, reliable, efficient and sustainable railway fit for the 21st century. Our Road Fleet team is part of a National Supply Chain department that underpins our success by procuring safe and sustainable products and services that are used to maintain, renew and enhance the rail infrastructure. Their role is to manage our extensive fleet of cars, vans and HGVs and associated assets. Your challenge? To lead the safe, compliant and cost effective in-service management of this fleet by working closely with supply chain colleagues and the wider business. This highly visible role will see you provide top quality management information to the business and senior stakeholders alike. We'll also rely on you to use the data generated to identify and implement quality and efficiency initiatives that will make an immediate and tangible impact to both process and the bottom line. Another key responsibility will be to manage high value, complex supply contracts to achieve best in class delivery of goods and services. This will include validating the transactions involved in that delivery and managing the suppliers who deliver them. In summary, you'll play a big part in managing our supply chain to achieve the most cost effective and industry standard compliant delivery of operations possible. To succeed, you'll need extensive knowledge of the supply chain and relevant large supply contracts and proven contract and supplier management experience. Excellent commercial and negotiation skills are also key, as is a high level of safety and compliance awareness, first class numeracy and a flair for analysis. Well organised, energetic and results-driven, you have the proven ability to motivate and lead a virtual team. You're also used to working with multi site customers/suppliers and team members, sometimes under pressure, in a dynamic commercial environment.
