The role is to manage Thurrock Council's vehicle and plant fleet and will include the development and implementation of strategies and procedures dealing with procurement, disposal and maintenance. Our current fleet establishment comprises 30 Refuse Collection vehicles as well as around 120 other vans, trucks, sweepers, etc and c.200 items of smaller plant.
An essential part of your role would be to advise on appropriate vehicle and plant solutions in order to meet operational service needs and determine and implement appropriate training on the effective and efficient use and deployment of the Council's fleet.
You will need to have managed a large multi-discipline fleet operation in the past and have a history of preparing and managing budgets.
You will be committed to equality of opportunity in employment and have gained a Certificate of Professional Competence in National Road Transport Operations.
A clear and credible communicator, you will have excellent organisational and management skills.
You will also provide the lead role in managing the department's stores function, including procurement of supplies and stock control processes and procedures.
