Derbyshire County Council is looking to appoint a transport manager who will control and manage their fleet of approximately 800 vehicles and items of plant. In addition the successful candidate will be required to maintain and develop the provision of vehicle services to external organisation. Reporting to Head of Commercial Services this new post will be responsible for the day to day management of the transport function which includes setting transport policies, vehicle specification, procurement, operations and maintenance. There will be a requirement for the post holder to liaise with elected members customers and supplies.
DCC/11/1041 Grade 14 £41,915 - £46,763 per annum
The ideal candidate will be required to hold a CPC in National Transport Operations and be a member of a recognised engineering body (such as IRTE, IMecE or IIE) and will possess a significant knowledge of:
• transport management and operator compliance
• transport legislation
• vehicle types and maintenance procedures
• demonstrate an understanding of the latest technological advancements in the maintenance/repair of motor vehicles.
