Alloy Bodies clocks up 50 years in business

Bodies & Bodywork
Commercial vehicle bodybuilder Alloy Bodies is celebrating its 50th anniversary, citing its design capabilities and loyal workforce as key to its success.

The Manchester-based business has 100 employees, many of whom have worked there for 20 years or more, and it builds more than 2,000 bodies each year.

Its range includes the Aeroluton, first launched in 1996, and the Aerocurtain, which brought similar air management advantages – and lower fuel bills – to operators of curtainsided vehicles.

Operators of heavier vehicles can specify box, curtain, dropside or flatbed bodies, all built to order to individual requirements. Construction includes anodised aluminium and hot-dip galvanised steel, and many feature optional extras such as tail-lifts, flush rear and side barn doors, curved roof profiles and additional load restraints.

Managing director Jackie Murphy says: “Reaching this historic landmark is testament to the strength of our designs and products, and the exacting levels of service we aim to provide to all our customers.”

The company has been part of the Lanarkshire-based Anderson Group since 2017.
