Andrew Jones, parliamentary under secretary of state at the DfT (Department for Transport), has signed up to speak at the Microlise (telematics) transport conference in May.

One year since taking office, Jones will address what is now the largest road transport conference in Europe, being held at The Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 18 May 2016.

“We’ve made excellent progress in helping to deal with the big challenges facing the industry and I look forward to briefing transport operators, manufacturers and stakeholders on what has been achieved and our plans,” comments Jones, ahead of his presentation.

The Microlise transport conference provides a full day’s programme supported by workshops and a 3,500m2 industry exhibition area.

The programme will be chaired by Quentin Willson, one of Britain’s best-known motoring authorities, and will feature speakers from across the industry, including transport operators, industry bodies, government and other key stakeholders.

“We knew that with the growing scale of the conference it would be vital to have a representative from Westminster at this year’s event,” states Microlise CEO Nadeem Raza.

“We recognise the progress Mr Jones and his colleagues are making – for example approving the new Trailblazer apprenticeship and supporting the DVSA’s next generation compliance plans,” he continues.

“We look forward to hearing from him as he marks one year in the job.”
