BOC's new LNG (liquefied natural gas) dual-fuel refuelling station, at Asda Logistics Services' Avonmouth site, is now up and running.
The station incorporates BOC's latest 'zero loss' refuelling technology, which uses cryogenic cooling to temperature-condition the fuel just prior to dispensing into dual-fuel trucks.
Corinne Murphy, national fleet manager for Asda Logistics Services, says that the new refuelling station will support the UK supermarket chain's fleet of 50 dual-fuel (LNG and diesel) Volvo trucks at the new environmentally friendly site.
"The transition from diesel to BOC's dual-fuel technology has been extremely smooth," states Murphy.
"Alternative fuels are an important part of Asda's green agenda, and working with BOC and Volvo will help us deliver our 10% absolute carbon footprint reduction by 2015."
Mark Lowe LNG business manager for BOC, adds: "BOC is proud to be working with Asda as a partner on this important, environmentally friendly alternative to diesel.
"By working closely with Asda and Volvo, BOC has been able to deliver a consistently high quality refuelling service.
"Our partnership demonstrates BOC's long-term commitment to play an active part in the transition to low-carbon transport."
