Supplied by dealer Thomas Hardie Commercials, the Urban Artics are 24-tonne gcw, 4x2 medium cab tractor units and will be coupled with 7.9-metre single-axle trailers, to deliver wines, spirits and soft drinks to Robinsons’ 300 pubs as well as free trade customers.
For maximum manoeuvrability, the trucks have a 3,070mm wheelbase – the same as the previous FL vehicles operated by the brewery.
Each truck has a D8K250 six-cylinder, 7.7-litre engine, providing 250bhp at 2100 rpm and torque of 950Nm between 900 and 1700 rpm. The exhaust brake, which is controlled by a switch on the steering column, produces 170kW of retardation at 2800 rpm.
Specification also includes rear air suspension, I-Sync six-speed automated gearbox and the EBS+ package, which includes traction control and hill hold.
To assist with the chassis height, Robinsons Brewery’s new FL Urban Artics run on 265/70R19.5 tyres on both axles. The trucks are expected to cover up to 38,000km a year.
