Bristol College apprentices benefit from Ryder truck donation

Apprenticeships
Contract hire and truck rental specialist Ryder Europe has donated a 7.5-tonne DAF truck to City of Bristol College for its 2010 trainee apprenticeship programme.
The vehicle, originally part of the Ryder fleet, will enable trainees to get hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing a working truck. This most recent DAF truck donation is in addition to previous donations by Ryder Europe of a tractor unit and Texa diagnostic computer. "Ryder is proud to partner with City of Bristol College – one of the best HGV training colleges in the country – to help develop a skilled technician workforce for the future," comments Steve Mulley, Ryder's operations director. Ten trainees are now embarking on City of Bristol's three-year programme, which will result in their achieving the IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) Level 3 certificate and diploma in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.
