Commercial laundry business Camplings has taken delivery of one of the first Euro 6 Mercedes-Benz Atego light distribution trucks.
Supplied by dealer Orwell Truck & Van, and on contract hire through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, the 12-tonne Atego 1223 has a ClassicSpace day cab and features integrated daytime running lights. The truck has a 231bhp engine, with a six-speed PowerShift 3 automated transmission.
Great Yarmouth-based Camplings' 14-strong fleet is mostly 7.5-tonners but includes an 18-tonne Axor, downplated to 15 tonnes. It also operates two Sprinters and a 109 CDI Citan.
"Growing demand for our service has meant that we've started to increase carrying capacity and our latest 12-tonne Atego has replaced another 7.5-tonner," says Paul Edleston, logistics director.
"We'll be changing more of the smaller vehicles over time, but will have to retain a few, because access to some customer locations is restricted."
Camplings' latest addition has a purpose-designed laundry body, by GK Harvey Coachbuilders, and features a side loading door, specialist racking, and a 1,000kg Ratcliff column tail-lift with safety gates and hinged side-loading ramps for handling roll-on containers.
