Coffin and casket manufacturer JC Atkinson has taken delivery of a Euro 6 Mercedes-Benz Atego, which, at 12 tonnes, is the largest vehicle on its 14-strong fleet.
Supplied by dealer Bell Truck and Van, the Atego 1223 was specified with an L ClassicSpace sleeper cab, a 26ft box body (by Robinson Truck Bodies, of Blaydon-On-Tyne), and a 1,000kg Anteo tuckaway tail-lift.
This latest addition is powered by the 230bhp engine, driving through Mercedes' PowerShift 3 automated gearshift.
The Washington, Tyne and Wear-based company's fleet now features 13 Mercedes-Benz vehicles, including three 10-tonne Ategos, seven Sprinters, Lutons and Vito vans.
"We are striving constantly at JC Atkinson to reduce the impact of our operations on the environment," says Ian Handley, operations director.
"With its low-emission credentials, improved efficiency and competitive whole life running costs, our latest Mercedes-Benz Atego complements this strategy perfectly."
