CMG Rescue boosts workshop capacity with TotalKare

Vehicle recovery business CMG Rescue has installed eight mobile column lifts at its Newport Pagnell base, to ensure its fleet of vehicles is maintained swiftly and efficiently.

As well as a 75-strong fleet of recovery vehicles, CMG has an in-house transport and logistics operation, running 30 trucks and trailers across Europe.

CMG has acquired a set of eight cable-free T8DC mobile column lifts, from TotalKare, along with supporting workshop equipment including a transmission jack, trailer beam and axle support stands.

Each column can lift up to 7,500kg, and can be used in configurations of four, six or eight, meaning CMG Rescue can use the solution for all fleet vehicles, including its 38-tonne heavy recovery trucks.

Adjustable forks enable a range of wheel diameters to be accommodated. Using the trailer beam in conjunction with the T8DC enables trailers to be raised for maintenance, while the transmission jack can handle gearboxes and engines in most workshop situations, especially when removing units via the underside of a vehicle is the only option.

The lift installation is supported with TotalKare’s AfterKare service package, including two service visits per year and Thorough Examination reports.

Sean Warren, fleet manager at CMG Rescue, says he spoke to several suppliers after visiting the Commercial Vehicle Show two years ago: “TotalKare was the only company who remained in touch from the initial enquiry through to order placement – its enthusiasm to develop a positive working relationship with us was a big factor in our final decision.”
