East Yorkshire Motor Services turns to Bridgestone

East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) has now gone for a Bridgestone tyres policy for its 160-strong fleet, ending a decade for this bus company with an unnamed alternative tyre manufacturer.

EYMS’s chief engineer Robert Gibson cites Bridgestone ‘full-fit’ package – where an in-house technician now removes and re-fits wheel assemblies at its Hull HQ – and its ‘super fit’ option for other depots, where EMYS’s own technicians now use pre-built assemblies.

“In effect, we have two contracts with Bridgestone running side-by-side,” explains Gibson. “This was the overriding reason for making the switch from our old supplier.

“Bridgestone had no issues in meeting our needs in this way [and] their all-round service has been absolutely superb.”

Gibson says that Bridgestone also offered savings on the total contract cost, and adds that the deal includes monthly monitoring and inspections of tyres to maintain economy and safety.

Fleet managers can now receive all inspections electronically via Bridgestone’s T2i inspection system – which captures tread depths and wear issues – as well as bespoke monthly tyre damage reports.
