Final chance to have a say on TfL’s Direct Vision proposal

Road Safety
Transport for London’s final consultation on its Direct Vision Standard (DVS) proposal is open until 18 February.

The DVS aims to improve road safety in the capital by eliminating HGVs’ blind spots and trucks will be given a rating from zero to five stars.

TfL is proposing an associated safety permit scheme for those vehicles that have retrofitted a safe system, and this latest consultation focuses on the safety permit process.

Comments are invited on: the process for obtaining a DVS star rating; requirements of the safe system; the permit application and administration process; and the enforcement and appeals process.

Subject to final consultation, permits will be issued from October this year. Operators will be able to apply for a permit via an online portal on TfL’s website.
