Originally from London, Hand has a Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering and has been a driving force behind FlixBus since joining the team in October 2022 as operations manager.
In her new role, she will work alongside several of FlixBus’s operator partners, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to passengers.
Speaking about her promotion, Hand said: “Being part of the FlixBus team for the last two years has been a whirlwind of excitement, travel and growth, and I know the next phase of network expansion is going to be the most impressive yet.
“We have a unique mix of cutting-edge technology and data analysis at Flix, and local knowledge from our partners. I’m looking forward to working even more closely with operators to ultimately provide the best service possible for our passengers.”
FlixBus has been clear about its desire to build the largest coach network in the country, and the brand has transported over five million passengers since launch.
The travel tech brand recently announced that First Bus and trentbarton will join the network, with over 200 FlixBus vehicles on the road by summer 2025.
During her time at FlixBus, Hand has led key projects including the successful introduction of FlixBus services to bus stations in Bristol and Leeds, as well as branding Heathrow and Bristol airports. She has also been responsible for the team of station agents at London Victoria Coach Station.
The majority female operations team at FlixBus in the UK is led by Hayley Russell. She said: “Francesca’s eye for detail, hands-on approach to problem-solving, and exceptional ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders have been invaluable to our success.”
“Her promotion reflects her outstanding contribution and her exceptional development over the past two years during a rapid growth period, maintaining excellent quality throughout, even during the busiest travel peaks.”
