Hankook launches SmartWork AM09 all axle tyre

Tyres & Retreads
Improved traction, optimised braking performance and better fuel economy and mileage are among Hankook’s claims for its SmartWork AM09 all axle on- and off-road truck tyre, which replaces its AM06.

The new tyre design uses broader zigzag grooves while the blocks feature a step design, resulting in an edge effect which, says the company, shortens braking distances and increases off-road traction.

It also sports a closed shoulder design aimed at further improving the tyre's driving stability, while its solid construction is said to improve resistance against lateral stress and protect against damage to the block edges.

Beyond that, the firm points to the SmartWork AM09’s improved self-cleaning (due to additional knops at the base of the tread), ultra-robust carcass design and extended tread surface – 10% wider than its predecessor – as well as the tyre’s M+S identification.

The new tyre is initially available in size 315/80R22.5. Hankook says additional sizes will follow in the next few months of this year.
