Four Volvo FE-300 rigids, with Solomon fridge bodies, have been added to the Heron Foods fleet that services 160 stores in the midlands and the north of England.
The 6x2 chassis trucks, supplied by Crossroads Truck and Bus of Hull, are the first Volvos in Heron's 36-strong fleet.
"We've been running one brand of trucks for some years now and we felt that it was time for a change," comments a Heron spokesperson. "Volvo's product stood out as the most obvious choice, and the 6x2 FE particularly suits our needs."
The company's adds that while it is too early to look at fuel returns, the initial signs are good. "It's been a change for our drivers too, and they have taken to these new Volvos very well."
