A team of technicians from the Thurrock dealership of MC Truck & Bus has come sixth at Volvo’s VISTA global final in Brazil.

The team of four, called ‘MC Hammers’, was one of 40 in the 2018 final, which was won by Estonia.

VISTA – the Volvo International Service Training Awards – is a biennial event, with technicians from Volvo Trucks and Volvo Buses dealerships across the world competing for the title.

Nigel Brooks, aftermarket director at MC Truck & Bus, said: “To finish sixth in the world is an absolutely fantastic achievement... Over 4,800 teams, comprising more than 19,700 participants, originally entered the global event.

“The team’s success in Brazil means that they have been recognised as being in the top 1% of Volvo technicians worldwide.”

The MC Hammers team (pictured, left to right) of Darren Sladden, Ryan Garrett, John Walker and Stuart Hall took part in a series of challenges at the one-day final, designed to test their problem-solving and decision-making skills, as well as technical knowledge.

The four won their place at the Brazil finals after taking top spot in the UK qualifier, held in Sweden earlier this year (see link below).

While in Brazil, the team also visited a children’s home in Curitiba, which is sponsored by Volvo Trucks.
