Tarmac franchise operator NR Parsons Transport has taken delivery of its first four Renault Premium 460 6x2 trucks, with Optidriver automated gearbox and Privilege cab.
A further two Premium trucks are on order for delivery in October. All have been specified with sleeper cabs for operational flexibility, and they replace Volvo tucks in NR Parson's 11-strong fleet.
These Premiums, all supplied by Renault Trucks Cardiff, will be undertaking general haulage work on franchise to Tarmac.
"Value for money and fuel economy were the two big factors in our purchase decision," says Neil Parsons, owner, NR Parsons Transport.
"Although it's early days, the new Premiums are already returning 7.2mpg and we expect this to increase, as the demonstrator was achieving 7.6mpg, which is a good result for this type of operation and a considerable improvement on the existing vehicles on the fleet," he adds.
To ensure maximum fuel efficiency, NR Parsons' drivers are due to attend an Optifuel Driver Training Course, through Renault Trucks Cardiff.
