The Office of the Traffic Commissioner is reminding operators that they may need ECMT permits for road haulage operations to the EU after March 2019.
This follows the government’s announcement last week (see link below), which confirmed that UK community licences currently issued to operators may no longer be valid when the UK leaves the EU.
The ECMT permit system allows journeys between 43 EU member countries.
The number of permits available will be limited and a permit needs to be carried in every vehicle making an international journey.
Applications can be made between 26 November and 21 December for annual permits for 2019 – to apply, operators must be registered on the vehicle operator licensing system by 12 November.
There will also be some monthly ECMT permits available next year. Applications for these will open at a later date.
