The Safety and Resilience in Engineering Awards recognise excellence, innovation, and a commitment to safety across the engineering sector. The addition of the RHA as a sponsor highlights a shared dedication to advancing safety standards and fostering the next generation of industry leaders.
As part of their sponsorship, the RHA will play a role in the awards by judging the 'Future Leader' award. This award celebrates rising stars of the industry. Primarily aimed at apprentices or young engineers who strive for the maximum knowledge and practical skills and embrace new technologies. This award could also be awarded to an individual who acts as an ambassador to inspire more people to consider an apprenticeship as a viable career alternative.
Aaron Peters, head of technical, engineering and policy is the judge for this category. Peters has more than two decades of experience in operations and engineering management within the transport and healthcare sectors. Currently serving as the head of technical, engineering, and policy at the RHA, he focuses on providing technical expertise, engineering support and strategic planning to future-proof the transport industry.
“The RHA is pleased to support the Future Leaders category at the SOE’s Safety & Resilience in Engineering Awards this year. Safety is vital in every part of logistics and it’s essential that the sector collaborates on this important issue.” Richard Smith, managing director of the RHA
The RHA's involvement in the awards aligns with its broader commitment to enhancing safety within the road haulage industry. By recognising and celebrating future leaders, the RHA aims to inspire a culture of safety and resilience throughout the engineering sectors.
SOEs designate executive director Emma Thompson MSOE welcomed the sponsorship by saying: "We are delighted to have the Road Haulage Association on board for the 2024 Safety and Resilience in Engineering Awards. Their commitment to safety and leadership in logistics makes them an ideal partner for our Future Leader category. Together, we can emphasise the importance of safety and inspire the next generation of engineers and logistics professionals."
The SOE Safety and Resilience in Engineering Awards 2024 will take place on 17 October at ThinkTank, Birmingham Museums, where the winners will be announced.
