Tructyre was acquired last year by Euromaster, part of the Michelin group.
The merger will see ATS Euromaster focusing on light vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes gvw, with heavier vehicles managed by Tructyre ATS.
The new strategy will replicate Tructyre’s business model in the south of England across the UK: four other regional divisions will cover the South West, Midlands, North and Scotland.
Each region will have its own managing director, admin function, local stocking points, call centre and mobile service fleet.
ATS says the transfer of heavy vehicle operations to Tructyre ATS will enable it to grow its presence for the lighter vehicle market – until now, this sector has accounted for half of its business.
Martin Kellett, group managing director of ATS Euromaster, says: “Our goal is to achieve long-term sustainability and to that end it makes sense for us to separate the two very different sides of our business.”
Glenn Sherwood, Tructyre’s founder and CEO, adds: “Tructyre ATS is set to become the largest service provider in the UK specialising in the management of tyres for heavy vehicle operators.
“We will also be in the unique position of having the only truly consistent national offering for local, regional and national heavy fleet customers.”
Fleets with vehicles over 3.51 tonnes will be moved across to Tructyre ATS: the South East and South West region will be first, completing this transition by early 2019.
Mixed vehicle fleets will be reviewed on an individual basis. Those operating predominantly light vehicles will probably remain under ATS Euromaster, with heavy vehicle work contracted to Tructyre ATS, and vice versa for predominantly heavy vehicle fleets.
