Whale Tankers has unveiled a demountable vehicle that sees the company's popular medium volume combination (MVC) unit swap body now available on a 16-tonne Mercedes Unimog 4x4 chassis.
Whale managing director Mark Warmington states that the firm can now expand its demountable tanker range to include off road capability.
He believes that this latest MVC/Unimog combination tanker serves as an ideal vehicle for operators looking to maximise fleet utilisation all year round. It will also appeal to existing Unimog fleet operators.
The Mercedes Unimog U500 weighs 6,000kg, has a wheelbase of 3,900mm and is powered by a 286bhp Euro 5 engine.
The chassis is equipped with a hydrostatic drive and Unimog body demount system, allowing operators to use various types of body with the single chassis – meaning no more separate chassis for each application.
Designed and engineered primarily as a go anywhere 4 x 4 emergency response unit, Whale's MVC makes it ideal for emptying pits and clearing drain blockages in less accessible locations.
"The new MVC/Unimog is an exciting addition to what is an already comprehensive demountable Whale product range, and one that we know many operators are keen to introduce to their fleets," states Warmington.
"In addition to being available as a combination unit, it can also be supplied purely as a JetVac or VacuumWhale," he adds.
