A low-loading, so-called Space Van brings what developer Supertrucks describes as "a new level of loading convenience to dry freight".
In standard format, its load deck height is 550mm, with a step height of 370mm. But, with optional rear air suspension, the vehicle has one of the lowest deck/step heights around (370/190mm). And that's with a 20.4cu.m load space.
Internal body floor length is 4,100mm, maximum body width is 2,050mm (1,500mm floor between the wheel arches) and internal height is 2,450mm. Not bad for a 3.5-tonne gvw Luton.
As for the rest, the Space Van's main body structure consists of one-piece, high gloss white GRP side walls bonded to a lightweight aluminum frame. The roof structures is a single-piece, translucent panel, carried on alloy cross bearers, and all external structural alloy members are silver anodised.
Internally, the body side walls have been fitted with deep soft wood kickboards and six rows of full length lashing rails. The standard rear closure is a lightweight, narrow slat, alloy roller shutter.
Incidentally, there is to be an extended wheel base version, providing a body load deck length of 4,500mm and a load volume of 22.29cu.m for an additional £850.00.
