Tipper bodybuilder Thompsons Group says 2013 was its best sales year ever, after a rush of orders in December for Euro 6 engined tippers.
More than 200 orders were placed last month with Thompsons and sister company Charlton. As a result, new Euro 6 tippers are already in operation: the first being bodied on Mercedes-Benz 8x4 Arocs chassis.
Among the new vehicles are two high-spec insulated crane tippers for Dartford-based FM Conway, built by Charlton at its factory in Dover.
Thompsons' Blackburn factory has also delivered another two similar chassis fitted with full-spec, heavy-duty Loadmaster bodies for LC Vehicle Hire, of Leeds.
Thompsons says it is now building Euro 6 tipper demonstrators for Volvo, Scania, DAF, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Renault and Iveco, as well as providing vehicles on 'bank stock' arrangements with various truck manufacturers and dealers.
