Dudman Group orders 20 N3G-specification Volvo FMX tippers

Aggregates business Dudman Group has taken delivery of nine Volvo FMX 8x4 vehicles, kitted out with Thompsons all-steel Loadmaster Lite bodywork.

The tippers form part of a 20-vehicle order to go into operation and all are being built to meet the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency's (DVSA's) N3G specification for off-road trucks.

The Southwick-based operator's latest additions all feature a heavy-duty rear under-run bumper, connected to the chassis rails by extra-strong dropdown brackets. Wings extend over the full width of the wheels and tyres.

Thompsons is also building aluminium sideguards to both sides of the chassis, which swing out to allow easy access to fuel and air tanks.

Supplied by MC Truck & Bus, of Maidstone, the Volvo FMXs have 420bhp engines with I-Shift automated gearboxes.

Dudman Group owner Steve Dudman says the vehicles offer "maximum legal compliance for today, with the highest possible future-proofing for tomorrow".
