The vehicles were chosen after a multi-marque tender, with Isuzu “easily meeting all the stringent council criteria for overall specification, ancillary equipment, performance and ease of maintenance,” according to Dave Fisher, the council’s fleet officer.
After meeting the manufacturer and local dealer TIM Commercials, Amber Valley ordered the Grafter Green 3.5-tonners with secure toolboxes and dropside bodies.
Fisher praises the Grafter’s compact footprint and ability to pull a plant trailer “effortlessly”, and says driver feedback has been “extremely positive”.
The trucks are expected to be in service for up to five years and will cover general ground maintenance duties on sports grounds, parks and highway grass verges across the council’s area in the East Midlands and Derbyshire.
