Alfred Hymas' latest generation Volvo FH13 tipper is now entering service on the company's high-mileage bulk tipping operations, with both tractor and trailer specified with Hyva tipping equipment.
The tractor's new Wilcox aluminium plank-sided trailer has a Hyva FE169 tipping cylinder, weight-saving polished aluminium wheels and a lifting rear axle that reduces tyre wear when the truck is running empty or manoeuvring.
"We've run Volvo, Hyva and Wilcox products for many years, but this latest truck takes us another stage forward," says managing director Stewart Hymas.
"The technologies now being offered on these latest vehicles are quite amazing, but no matter how advanced our trucks may be, the operating criteria that really count are still reliability, economy and overall productivity."
With a payload of around 29.5-tonnes, the new artic will be used primarily on agricultural bulk haulage work. Sand, gravel and coal are also carried by the fleet, which now totals 72 vehicles, running out of the company's main base at Burton Leonard, near Harrogate, and depots at Ripon and Keighley.
