Leo Group is a UK market leader in animal by-products, food, and commercial waste collections and reprocessing. The group transports over 500,000 tonnes annually, using its own fleet and working 24/7 throughout the year.
Due to continued expansion, we are now seeking an experienced national transport manager, based at our head office in Halifax, to join the team.
The role, which reports to the group managing director, requires the successful candidate to:-
• Ensure that the transport operation is compliant with company and legal obligations.
• Co-ordinate and direct controllers/supervisors on site to ensure a consistent, effective and efficient service, whilst maintaining cost control.
• Research ways to improve the current operation and implement agreed improvements.
• Identify and resolve operational problems and identify and exploit new opportunities.
The successful candidate will be computer literate, have gained transport operations qualifications (CPC National or equivalent) and will have excellent knowledge of transport regulations (EC tacho and domestic). You should also possess strong influencing skills, the ability to formulate plans and implement them, and to balance conflicting priorities.
